Woodwind instruments use air to create sound. Some use a reed, while others like the flute use air blown across an opening. Exploring breath and sound helps build early musical understanding

Extend the Fun 

Try this simple experiment:
Blow across the top of a bottle to make a sound. Add water and try again, the more water inside, the higher the sound! This shows how space inside an instrument changes pitch.
